DevelopIQ Release Official RWC 2011 Apps

Category : ,

DevelopIQ were excited to apply our app experience to the challenging development of the enhanced Official Rugby World Cup 2011 apps for BlackBerry Smartphone and PlayBook. Working closely with BlackBerry, the Official Mobile Sponsor of the tournament, and the International Rugby Board (iRB), the innovative super apps deliver live scores, stats, commentary, highlight videos, stadium info and local event info to rugby fans all over the world.

In addition to the real-time tournament information, the Official RWC 2011 apps also leverage unique BlackBerry platform features to ensure an optimal mobile user experience, such as pushed match commentary updates, calendar integration and BBM social features including in-game chat.

James Shannon, DevelopIQ CTO, commented, "The Official RWC 2011 apps were an unmissable opportunity to show what's possible when you combine a compelling live sporting event with an intelligent cloud distribution service and innovative mobile apps. The real-time integration of on-site data gathering and 3rd party aggregation with our cloud push distribution platform demonstrates where the next iteration of mobile apps are heading."

The Official RWC 2011 apps have been a huge hit with rugby supporters everywhere - the app is currently being enjoyed by millions of users in over 150 countries - with South Africa currently topping the leaderboard of rugby-loving app users.
